GET TO KNOW ME

My dream has always been to combine my love for science, maths, and analysis with my artistic and creative side. Engineering has always been an opportunity to have grandiose ideas and implement them using scientific knowledge and analysis.

I specialized in electrical engineering because it's dynamic multidisciplinary, and on this page, I would like to show what I've been doing since I began college.

FINAL DESIGN PROJECT

Digital Signal processing project

During my last year of college, I designed audio filters on python and created a program that allows users to select the filters from a GUI (using the TKinter library) and processes their audio input in real time (using PyAudio library). I used embedded Linux to run the program on a raspberry pi microcomputer, by creating Linux device drivers that take audio input on microphones and play filtered output on a speaker. The video on the next page is a demonstration.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Here are some of the exciting projects I have completed during my time in college

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS PROJECT

Created device to navigate a blind/blindfolded person through a route with stationary and moving obstacles. Used C language on Arduino microcontrollers which controlled peripherals like ultrasonic sensors, buzzers etc., and I2C to communicate between arduinos. Interrupts began when certain conditions were sensed, and buzzers/alarms were turned on. The device was tested and performed tasks effectively.

GAME HARDWARE DESIGN

Used state machine design to create machine player’s strategy for a game. Implemented game hardware using VHDL on Xilinx design suite and downloaded it onto Xilinx FPGA development board for testing.

AUTONOMOUS UNDERWATER VEHICLE

Designed and programmed an autonomous robot that performed tasks underwater for the semester-long design project of the EG1003 course. Made monthly milestone presentations to track progress

ACADEMIC PROJECTS (CONT)

POWER AMPLIFIER DESIGN

Designed a two-stage amp to achieve a specific gain, peak to peak currents swing, maximum source power etc. using hand calculations. Simulated amplifier on Cadence OrCAD to test performance and made necessary adjustments due to PSpice BJT model. Designed the PCB and physically tested the amplifier’s performance. The amplifier performed almost to desired specifications with 10% and 12% variation in gain and current swing respectively.

BICYCLE DYNAMO PROJECT

Designed bottle dynamo to be fitted to a bicycle wheel in order to charge a mobile device. Performed hand calculations to estimate the performance of the dynamo. Wrote a research paper and made a presentation with business plan and Gantt chart.

PRODUCT PROTOTYPING

Designed and prototyped a waterproof lens product, interviewed potential customers, and made a business proposal on Kickstarter

SHORT STORY

How to Disappear completely (2020)

Recommendation

I had the pleasure of being the supervisor for Halimat Atinuke during her 4 years at the NYU IT Service Desk.  She has excelled at every task thrown her way and has done so while staying on top of her school work. The feedback that I receive from clients has been nothing short of positive when it comes to Halimat. It’s exciting to see her growth in the time she has worked at the Service Desk and I’m confident that she is capable of so much more. I hold Halimat to a very high regard for her work ethic and would recommend her for any position she would ever apply for!

Sincerely,

Ramel Page
